The Mar Elias College Management Association (MECMA) of Mar Elias College, Kottappady, organized a Workshop on Disaster Management & Rescue Operations on 6th October 2025 at the Seminar Hall. The session aimed to enhance students’ awareness of disaster preparedness, safety measures, and effective response during emergencies.
The workshop was led by experts from the Fire and Rescue Station, Kothamangalam — Mr. P. M. Rasheed, Senior Fire and Rescue Officer, and Mr. Satheesh Jose, Assistant Station Officer. They shared valuable insights and practical knowledge on disaster response strategies, safety protocols, and the importance of immediate and coordinated action during emergencies. The session also included live demonstrations of rescue operations and the use of firefighting equipment, which provided participants with hands-on learning experiences.
The programme was coordinated by Mr. Praveen Kumar K. P., and the welcome address was delivered by him. The presidential address was given by Dr. Joseph T. Moolayil, Principal of Mar Elias College.
The workshop witnessed the active participation of all Final Year and Second Year BBA students, along with selected students from the B.Com and BSW departments. The participants enthusiastically engaged in the interactive session, gaining valuable knowledge on how to act effectively in real-life disaster situations.
The event concluded with a note of appreciation to the resource persons for their enlightening and practical session. The workshop successfully conveyed the message “Be Prepared, Stay Safe – Knowledge Saves Lives,” and proved to be an enriching experience for all attendees.
