About the Department

The Department of Computer Science and Applications was established with well qualified computer professionals and was conceived in the year 2012. The department offers two programmes: BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications) and BSc Computer Science.These programmes require 3-years to complete degree plus an additional 1 year to complete honours.  Programmes emphasize the theory of computer science and the development of software and applications. We have highly qualified and vibrant faculties who are committed to the betterment of students. All most all students who graduate are well placed or chosen to pursue higher education.


The department has maintained two well-equipped computer labs with total 50 computers with the latest computer software. The computer labs are equipped with internet access. The annual intake of the department is 80 students, 50 for BCA and 30 for BSc. The department ensures that programme outcomes are constantly met and learning outcomes are monitored through periodical tests and assignments. Every year on an average 20% of students are getting placement through various campus recruitments. The department offers counselling, workshops, seminars, carrier guidance, personality development, motivational training, placement training, group discussions, interview training etc. for the students with the collaboration of reputed educational institutions and agencies. The Computer Science and Applications Association ‘IGNUS’ and computer literacy club ‘GNOSIS are the best platforms for students to participate in various extracurricular activities.  Inter collegiate & Inter departmental IT fest, Industrial Visit and study tours are conducted every year. 
 

DEPARTMENT OBJECTIVES

Upon successful completion of BCA and BSc Computer Science, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in problem-solving techniques using the computer
  • Demonstrate proficiency in at least two high-level programming languages and two operating systems
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the analysis of complex problems and the synthesis of solutions to those problems
  • Demonstrate comprehension of modern software engineering principles
  • Demonstrate a breadth and depth of knowledge in the discipline of computer science
