The Department of Management started functioning in the year 2010 with two faculty and 8 students. At present, a team of 4 dedicated and dynamic teachers constitute the faculty and around 100 students are pursuing degree. The department focus on growing demand for management education both locally and globally. The course is designed to provide quality education in the field of management and administration. The curriculum of the course helps to improve the competency skill and qualities of management students and support them to become the successful business executives.
The BBA (Honours) programme under Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU), Kottayam, is a modern and industry-oriented undergraduate degree designed in alignment with the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) Model Curriculum 2024. This curriculum ensures that students receive a strong conceptual foundation in management along with the professional skills demanded by today’s corporate world. The Honours structure gives added academic depth, introducing research exposure, advanced subjects, and competency-based learning compared to a regular BBA.
The programme nurtures students to become future-ready business professionals by blending theoretical knowledge with practical learning. It focuses on developing managerial aptitude, decision-making ability, leadership qualities, communication skills, and entrepreneurial thinking. Through case studies, industry interaction, projects, and internships, students gain real-world experience along with academic excellence.
As an AICTE-approved curriculum, the programme follows a nationally recognised framework that enhances employability, mobility, and acceptance across industries and higher educational institutions in India and abroad. It also prepares students for a wide range of career paths including Marketing, Finance, HR, Operations, and Entrepreneurship, or for pursuing higher studies such as MBA, PGDM, or specialised postgraduate programmes.
The Mar Elias College Management association ‘MECMA’ is a best platform for students to participate in various extracurricular activities. Management day celebrations, Inter collegiate & Inter departmental management fest and study tours are conducted every year. Many of our alumni opted for higher studies and some are placed in reputed business organizations, multinational corporations and offices while few became entrepreneurs.
