A batch of 5th and 3rd semester students (40) and 3 faculty members of the Management Department visited the power unit of KELTRON, Trivandrum on 19th of october 2024.
On the day of visit
After receiving the letter of permission from the HR of KELTRON, 40 students along with 3 faculty consisting of HOD Preaveen kumar K.P , Anujumol chandra bose and Riya sussan sariya, Visited the power unit of KELTRON.
We departed from college on 18/10/2024 at 11.30 pm and reached trivandrum at 7.00 am (19/10/2024). We had a 2 hr break followed by breakfast. Our initial visit was to Padmanabhaswamy temple where we enjoyed the architectural splendours, and got to know more about the culture and heritage of india.
By 11.00 am we reached KELTRON , Kerala State Electronic Development Corporation limited. They have been in the power Electronic sector since 1973.
They are catering the power requirement of the nation with customised design and 100% in house production of
• UPS
• Chargers and inverters
• Rectifiers
• ACVR
• Solar power conditioning units etc..
They also have all the certification and approvals like seismic, EMI/EMC, IV AND V etc..
We visited the power unit, where they explained the order collection procedure with the help of Gem portal and calling tender. When inside students were given a tour to various departments including production, assembling, testing, electronics etc.KELTRONS customised communication and monitoring features allowed us to monitor the UPS system status and control the system from any distance.
There were strict regulations on the use of electronic devices like mobile phones and cameras. The visit came to an end by 1.00 pm .
Then we had our lunch by 1.30 pm. We got to explore the city for a while followed by a visit to the zoo that was wrapped up by 4.30pm. We continued the trip to enjoy the sun set at kovalam beach by 6:00 pm by visiting LULU. We ended the industrial visit at trivandrum by having dinner. We arrived at the college campus at 6.00am 20/10/2024.
By exploring KELTRON we had a real life insight on the application of the principle of production and operation management. It also gave us information about the real life challenges and problems faced by a manufacturing unit and how to face these challenges .
