The Women Empowerment cell at Mar Elias College was started with the aim of empowering and orienting women to recognize their true potential and to help them attain their own stand in a competing world.. Its goal is the overall development of women in all spheres of their life. It also helps in creating awareness about important issues related to women. Women cell may provide and maintain a dignified, congenial working environment for women employees (including teaching,non-teaching) and students, where they can work, study and explore their potential to the fullest.The Women Empowerment cell also focus to promote awareness of gender equality and work towards gender sensitization in society and among students in particular.The cell seeks to encourage female students to work towards their personal and social development. The role of the Cell is to equip all students with awareness and self-confidence about their gender and related issues.The women empowerment Cell also aims at helping students become more sensitive to issues of gender and treat each other with mutual respect and equality.

To train women to acquire wide range of skills and knowledge, to develop and increase their social, economic and intellectual capacities for peace, security and prosperity of mankind.
