A seminar on 'Matrimonial Laws and Women Safety' was held on 2 March 2023, at 10:00 am, and was organised by the Women Empowerment Cell and the Mar Elias Students Social Work Association in collaboration with NSS, IQAC, and the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The formal session started with a prayer, then Welcome Speech was delivered by Ms.Anitta Jaison,Convenor MESSWA & Women Empowerment Cell and the programme was inaugurated by respected panchayath president Ms.Mini Gopi, Ms.Jincy P Mathews, Vice Principal presided over the function and the programme was felicitated by Ms.Thahira B V H, District Women Protection Officer Ernakulam and Vote of Ms.Liya A S, Central Administrator SAKHI ONE STOP CENTRE Ernakulam proposed Vote of Thanks, followed by an awareness session by Adv. Nikhila Soman, High Court lawyer. The discussion covers marriage laws, programmes and policies for women, and safety precautions the government has proposed in tough situations. All PG students of Mar Elias College and members of the ICDS in Kottappady Panchayath participated. A Q&A session also took place at the conclusion of the event.
Outcome of the programme
The programme's goal was to educate the general public and students alike about marriage laws and women's protection. The amount of violence against women is rising daily. Thus, our community speaks out against the injustices suffered by women and girls in our society. Their awareness will enable them to respond to those challenging daily events. The programme's main goal was to provide awareness to both male and female on the mentioned subject.
