Every year on 1st November, Kerala which is also known as God’s own country , celebrates its founding day, and in Malayalam its being called as Kerala Piravi Day. Long after the Independence of the country, the state was formed on the same day in the year 1956. Before its establishment, Kerala was part of several outlying regions that were under various rulers as well as part of three major provinces.
Mar Elias College Kottappady celebrated Kerala Piravi Day- KERALEEYAM2023- on November 1st 2023 with different programmes depicting the love of Kerala and Malayalam. The programmes were conducted and organized by IQAC, Mar Elias Language Association (MELA), Fine Arts & Literary Forum. The competitions regarding Keraleeyam2023 started at 2 pm ,in the college auditorium. Nadanpattu and Quiz competitions were conducted. Gouthami Gangadharan & team from BCA Department and Ashin Shajan & team from commerce Department secured the first and second position in the Nadanpattu competition respectively. Amal Babu, Bhagya Agnes James & team from MTTM Department and Sam Mathew Regi,Samual Elias & team from commerce Department secured the first and second position in the Quiz competition respectively .Vice Principal Mrs.Jincy P Mathews and IQAC co-ordinator Mrs. Tintu Scaria distributed the prizes to the winners. All the students as well as teachers had actively participated in the program. It was a platform for the students to get awakened to the call of the patriotism and be proud of their homeland.
