DEEKSHARAMBH - Induction Programme (U G 2024)
The Induction Programme for the academic year 2024-2025 at Mar Elias College, Kottappady, is designed to provide new students with a comprehensive introduction to college life. This programme aims to help students acclimate to their new environment, understand the college's culture and values, and build a strong foundation for their academic journey. Over four days, from July 1st to July 5th, 2024, the induction programme offers a blend of cultural, educational, and interactive activities that foster community, collaboration, and personal growth. The following were the objectives of this programme:

DAY 1: 01/07/2024 MONDAY
The first day of the induction programme started at 11:00 AM with a Cultural Programme coordinated by Mrs. Jubilin Jose. This event features a variety of performances, including music and dance showcasing the diverse talents of the students and faculty. It serves as an excellent icebreaker, helping new students feel welcomed and part of the college community.
At 11:30 AM, Mrs. Mini Alias conducted an MGUUGP Awareness Class. This session is dedicated to newly admitted students to make them aware about the Four Year Under Graduate Programme (FYUGP) introduced in our state as a part of National Education Policy 2020.This session helped to clear all the doubts which may arise in the mind of students related to FYUGP
Following a brief Tea Break at 11:45 AM, the programme resumed at 12:00 PM with the live telecasting of state level Inauguration of FYUGP by our honourable Chief Minister Mr.Pinarayi Vijayan.The day concludes with the Inaugural Ceremony of MEC at 12:45 PM, marking the official start of the academic year. This ceremony includes the traditional lighting of the lamp, welcome addresses, and motivational speeches, setting a positive tone for the days to come.
DAY 2: 02/07/2024 TUESDAY
The second day began at 10:00 AM with Basics of Mentoring (Part 1), facilitated by Mrs. Poornima N and Mrs. Vineetha C.R. This session introduces students to the concept of mentoring, emphasizing its importance and benefits. Students learn how to build effective mentor-mentee relationships, which can significantly enhance their college experience.
From 10:45 AM to 12:30 PM, Mr. Mohanan S and Mrs. Anupama Sukumaran led a session on Physical Activity. This session encourages students to engage in physical exercises, highlighting the importance of maintaining physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle.
After a Lunch Break from 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM, the programme continued with Literary and Extracurricular Activities (Group Activities) from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Coordinated by Mrs. Tintu Scaria, Mrs. Sumi S, Mrs. Vidya V.V, and Mrs. Reshma Krishnan, these activities provide an interactive platform for students to showcase their literary and extracurricular talents, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
DAY 3: 04/07/2024 THURSDAY
On the third day, students embarked on a Site Visit to Bhoothathaankettu from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, coordinated by Mrs. Soumya Mathew and her team. This field trip offers a practical learning experience, allowing students to explore and learn about the local history and environment outside the traditional classroom setting.
After a Lunch Break from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM, the session on Basics of Mentoring (Part 2) resumes at 1:30 PM, led by Mrs. Poornima N and Mrs. Reshma Krishnan. This session builds on the previous mentoring session, providing deeper insights and practical tips for effective mentoring relationships.
From 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, Mrs. Sayana Sunny, Ms. Kesiya Mariya Jacob, and Mrs. Anjumol Chandrabose conducted Creative and Cultural Events (Group Activities). These activities allow students to engage in creative and cultural pursuits, showcasing their talents and promoting a sense of community and cultural appreciation.
DAY 4: 05/07/2024 FRIDAY
The final day of the induction programme started at 10:30 AM with a Motivational Talk by Dr. Joseph T Moolayil, Principal, and Mar Elias College Kottapady. This session aims to inspire and motivate students, emphasizing the importance of hard work, perseverance, and maintaining a positive attitude throughout their academic journey. Following a Lunch Break from 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM, the session on Basics of Mentoring (Part 3) takes place from 1:15 PM to 1:45 PM, facilitated by Mrs. Vineetha C.R and Mrs. Reshma Krishnan. This final part of the mentoring series summarizes the key points discussed in previous sessions and provides additional guidance on making the most of mentoring relationships.
From 1:45 PM to 3:00 PM, Mrs. Sayana Sunny and her team led another session of Creative Events, offering students further opportunities to engage in creative activities and express their talents. The induction programme concludes with a session on the Quality Gateway of MEC from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM, presented by Mrs. Tintu Scaria. This session introduces students to the college's quality initiatives and standards, explaining how they can contribute to maintaining high standards of excellence at Mar Elias College.
The Induction Programme for 2024-2025 at Mar Elias College is thoughtfully designed to provide new students with a well-rounded introduction to college life.
