The Department of Social Work in association with the Department of Psychology, organized a fresher’s day programme named SILFIRA for first year under graduate students. The event took place on 29 th July 2025 at college auditorium. The programme was arranged by the second year students of respective
departments.
The program began at 12 p.m. with a welcome speech delivered by Mr Ajay Rajesh, the student coordinator. Following this, Principal, Dr. Joseph T. Moolayil, delivered the presidential address and formally inaugurated the event. His words of wisdom and encouragement inspired students to make the most of their college journey.
The Head of the Department of Social Work, Mrs Soumya Mathew, then addressed the gathering, sharing her insights and extending a warm welcome to the newcomers. The ceremony also included a heartfelt felicitation of several key faculty members: Ms Gadha K Jayan (HOD, Psychology), Ms Lakshmi Nayana S Manikandan, Ms Anugraha, and Ms Unna C K. The formal part of the day concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms Pavithram M. Kailas, who expressed gratitude to all who made the event possible.
After the official inauguration, the first-year students were treated to an exciting activity session designed to help them bond and get to know each other. The highlight of the day was the foam party. The entertainment programmes, including singing and dancing performances by senior students, further raised the celebratory mood.
The event successfully achieved its goal of integrating the new students into the college family, setting a positive environment for their academic and social life ahead.
