The rural camp titled “Oorarivu” was organized by the Department of Social Work, Mar Elias College, Kottappady, in association with SWISS Foundation and the Kerala Forest Department at Parambikulam Tiger Reserve, with special focus on the Sungam Unnathi area. The five-day camp aimed to provide MSW students with experiential learning by exposing them to rural and tribal community life, environmental realities, and conservation practices.The camp enabled students to understand the complex interaction between human life and forest ecosystems, while applying professional social work methods in real-life field settings. Through participatory activities, awareness programmes, and community engagement, the camp promoted learning, social responsibility, teamwork, and leadership among students.
