A Free Mega Medical Camp was organized on 20th September 2025 by Department of social work ,Mar Elias College, Kottappady from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, in association with the support of Peace Valley Charitable Trust, Aster Medicity and Indra Gandhi institute of Dental Science (IGIDS).The following dignitaries and officials participated in the programme. The event started with a prayer, followed by a welcome speech by Mrs. Soumya Mathew, Head of Department of Social Work .Dr. Joseph T Moolayil, the principal of Mar Elias College, delivered the presidential address. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Sam Jose, Circle Inspector. The Keynote Address was delivered by Mrs. Mini Gopi, Panchayat President. Felicitation speeches were given by Mr. Sunil Joseph, Manager of Mar Elias College, Dr. Praveen G Pai and Mr Mithun. The Trust Members were also present. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Rekha Mariya Biju, Faculty Representative. .The main objective of the camp was to provide free and accessible healthcare services to the public, promote preventive health checkups, and spread awareness about lifestyle diseases and mental wellbeing. The camp offered a wide range of services including general medical consultations, eye checkups, dental examinations, ENT and hearing tests, as well as laboratory investigations like blood sugar, cholesterol, TSH, PFT, and urine analysis. Counselling and awareness sessions were also held on stress management and healthy living. A special focus was given to elderly and low-income individuals, with the event marking the completion of 100 palliative home care visits under MAGICS NGO. Volunteers from Mar Elias College assisted in registration, coordination, and patient support throughout the event. Collaboration with Kerala Arogya Suraksha Padhathi (KASP) enabled eligible beneficiaries to access follow-up healthcare services and Ayushman Bharat insurance benefits. Over 300 people benefited from the camp, with many undergoing free diagnostic tests and receiving medicines. The camp successfully promoted the importance of early diagnosis and community health participation, creating a lasting impact on the residents of Kottappady and surrounding areas.
