The social work department in Mar Elias College, Kottappady conducted 30-hour certificate course titled Psychotherapies in Counselling was conducted with the objective of equipping participants with a solid foundation in psychotherapeutic techniques and their application within the context of counseling.
This course was held in collaboration with Trada Institute of Social Science, Kottayam. A total of 23 students and 3 Faculties were participated in the course, each demonstrating an active interest in expanding their knowledge of counseling techniques and psychotherapies. The diverse group of students brought various perspectives, making for a rich learning environment.The course was designed to be interactive and hands-on, combining theoretical learning with practical sessions .
The sessions covered various forms of psychotherapy, including cognitive behavioural therapy, gestalt therapy etc.The curriculum was designed to foster critical thinking, empathy, and the practical skills necessary for successful therapeutic practice. The total fee collected for the course was INR 58,500. The course was highly successful, with all 23 students completing the required hours and assessments. The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many students highlighting the practical approach and the real-world applications of the therapeutic techniques learned.
Certificates were awarded to all participants upon completion, recognizing their achievement and their capacity to apply psychotherapeutic techniques in counseling contexts. The 30-hour certificate course on Psychotherapies in Counselling was a valuable educational experience for both students and faculty.
