ELNORA 2k24 :Memorable Day with Special Children

The Department of Social Work at Mar Elias College, kottappady organized a Social Work Day celebration on March 19, 2024, at the college auditorium. The event was designed to engage and uplift special children, emphasizing inclusivity, support, and the positive impact of social work in the community and fostering a sense of belonging and joy among special children.
The event commenced with a welcome speech by Ms.Soumya Mathew, Head of the social work department. She highlighted the importance of inclusivity and the role of social workers in advocating for children with special needs.
Rev.Fr.Eldhose Pulparambil (Vicar, Kalkunnel Mar Gee Varghese Sahada Church) Delivered word of blessings. Vicar Highlighted the vital role social workers play in building a more compassionate and just society. Dr.Bruce Mathew, principal delivered the presidential address focusing on The future of social work in a changing world. Ms. Mary Esthapan (Director, Bethlehem Abhayabhavan, koovappady) inaugurated the function and shared her valuable words regarding the critical role social workers play in advocating for marginalized populations. Mr. M Baby (Manager), and Ms.Tintu Scaria(IQAC-coordinator) delivered felicitations for the program.
Music, Dance, and Monoact were conducted, where children along with social work students. This activity aimed to boost the children's confidence and social skills.
Around 50 special children from different schools participated in the event. Around 100 social work students from Mar Elias College volunteered, providing support and companionship to the children. Staff and faculty members from the college also attended, ensuring the smooth running of the activities.
Each participating child received personalized gifts and also provided mementos for each institution with a token of love. Ms.Jisha Mariya Jose (MESSWA coordinator) delivered the vote of thanks.
