Mar Elias college MSW Department conducted a two day workshop on November 13th and 14th.The workshop was conducted by Mr.Shiju Ealias,Assistant Professor,LISSAH College Calicut.The workshop was very effective and interesting for the students.In the 1st day of PRA Workshop Mr.shiju sir took the class on what is PRA and gave information about PRA and it’s tools.Morning session of 1st day class filled with knowledge about class,games and fun.The trainees understand that PRA basically aim at a process that empowers local people to change their own conditions and situation.All the class conducted by shiju sir is very effective for the trainees.shiju sir does the class through friendly relationship with the trainees.The post-lunch session was very interesting. Trainees applied and practiced the PRA techniques and tools.The 1st day PRA workshop started at 09.30 A.M and ended at 04.45 P.M.
On the second day of the PRA workshop, the trainees were going to the nearest community-Kottapady Grama Panchayath 12 th ward, to get practical knowledge about PRA techniques by rehearse on it. The trainee practiced PRA by dividing into various groups dealing with different techniques. The trainee provides information about what and how they are going to do with the PRA techniques. Also the trainee support the community to working on it. The trainee can find the individuals from the presentation to work on it. After finishing the task, the trainee or every group analyzes and cross-checks the collected information by involving all the community members. It helps the trainee add, correct, and clear data for further tasks. Before leaving the community, the Panchayath President addresses their community problems and presents upcoming projects to solve community problems. In addition, the trainer, the trainee, and the class teacher felicitate them for coming, providing valuable information that will thereby help them attain practical knowledge in PRA and also for their active participation.
In the afternoon section, the group of trainees presents their techniques and analyzes the problems, their root causes, effects, and solutions, and how the problems were connected, with the help of the trainer. In addition to this, the trainee studied, practiced, and prepared the problem tree, which is in PRA, with the guidance of the trainer, Shaiju Sir. At last Mr.Shaiju sir took class about how to write the report on PRA.,After that workshop was completed.
