The study tour undertaken by the MTTM (Master of Tourism and Travel Management) programme from 24th February 2024 to 8th March 2024 was a comprehensive exploration of diverse cultural, historical, and tourism destinations across India. The tour aimed to provide students with practical insights into various facets of tourism management while experiencing the rich heritage and hospitality of different regions. Starting from Kerala, we journeyed through Agra, Jaipur, Amritsar, Delhi, and concluded the trip in the coastal paradise of Goa before returning to Kerala.
In Agra, home to the iconic Taj Mahal, where students learned about the significance of heritage conservation and sustainable tourism practices.
- Visits to Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri provided insights into Mughal architecture and historical narratives.
In Jaipur, the "Pink City," students explored the vibrant culture, royal heritage, and traditional craftsmanship.
- Visits to Amber Fort, City Palace, and Hawa Mahal deepened understanding of Rajputana history and architectural marvels.
Punjab offered a unique blend of spirituality, cuisine, and rural tourism experiences.
- Students visited the Jallianwala Bagh, Wagah Border and Golden Temple in Amritsar, understanding the Sikh faith's principles of equality and community service.
The bustling capital city, New Delhi provided insights into urban tourism management and diverse cultural influences.
- Highlights included visits to Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb, Lotus Temple, Akshardham Temple and the bustling markets of Chandni Chowk and Sarojini Nagar.
The tour concluded in Goa, renowned for its beaches, Portuguese heritage, and vibrant nightlife.
- Students explored heritage sites in Old Goa, engaged in water sports activities, and learned about Goa's tourism development challenges and Returned to Kerala, concluding the tour with fond memories of the diverse cultural and geographical tapestry of India.
