World Aids Day- 2024

The NSS Unit No. 109 of Mar Elias College, Kottappady, observed World AIDS Day on 02/12/2024 with a series of activities aimed at raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and promoting prevention strategies. The event emphasized the importance of education, stigma reduction, and support for individuals affected by HIV/AIDS.
Objectives
    • To spread awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment.
    • To encourage an open dialogue about HIV/AIDS and reduce societal stigma.
    • To educate students and faculty about the importance of early detection and safe practices.
The event commenced with the distribution of red ribbons, a universal symbol of awareness and support for people living with HIV/AIDS. NSS volunteers actively engaged students and faculty members, explaining the significance of the red ribbon and the need for continued awareness and empathy.
Additionally, NSS volunteers created and showcased an awareness video featuring key information about HIV/AIDS, misconceptions, and preventive measures. The video was well-received and served as an effective medium to educate the audience.
The event saw active participation from students, faculty members, and staff. The initiative successfully contributed to enhancing awareness, fostering compassion, and encouraging responsible behavior among attendees.
