SNEHARAMAM - 2024

National Service Scheme Unit no. 109, associated with Kottappady Grama Panchayath and Suchitwa Mission, has organised the Sneharamam Project on 18th January 2024 at Bapuji Library, Naganchery as part of its community outreach initiatives. The project aimed to promoting cleanliness, hygiene, and social responsibility among the students while contributing positively to the local community.
Mrs. Vidya V V, NSS Programme Officer, delivered the welcome address and Mrs. Gigi Cherian, President of Bapuji Library, presided over the meeting. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Mettin Mathew, Vice President, Kottappady Grama Panchayath. Mr. Amith J Prakash – Village Extension Officer, Mrs Vishnupriya K Raj – Health Inspector and Mrs Binitha Bose were felicitated at the meeting.
29 students have participated in the programme. The NSS unit conducted a preliminary assessment of cleanliness requirements and developed a detailed plan of action. Volunteers were divided into teams to cover different areas. The cleaning drive involved various activities such as sweeping, mopping, dusting and waste disposal, at the library premises and the playground near the library. They also painted the compound wall and hand rails inside the library. Volunteers also interacted with the residents as part of fostering a sense of community spirit.
Following the completion of the cleaning project, a debriefing session was held to evaluate the effectiveness of the initiative and gather feedback for the future endeavors. The project not only benefited the residents, but also empowered the volunteers and fostered a sense of solidarity within the community. Moving forward, the NSS unit remains committed to undertaking similar initiatives for the betterment of society.
