Mar Elias College, Kottappady, in association with IQAC & College Union, hosted its Annual Sports Meet from 5th February to 23rd February 2024. As a result of these events, students not only get a break from their academics but also get to participate in various sports, applying their knowledge to the sports field.
The sports events commenced with Football from 5/2/2024 to 12/2/2024. An intense session of Football League was held at the college ground where participants displayed strength and persistence. The winners of the football league are: I position - Blue house, II position - Red house, & III position - Green house.
Shuttle badminton was conducted from 15/2/24 to 19/2/24. Singles and doubles for boys and girls were conducted on these days at Kottappady Club. Badminton, being a game of great involvement, elicited cheers from the audience throughout, with players actively striving to outperform the opposing teams. For singles girls, Red house won the match, and for doubles girls, Green house emerged victorious. For singles boys, Blue house, and for doubles boys, Yellow house won the match.
A cricket match was organized from 19/2/2024 to 21/2/2024 at the college ground. Cricket, being the most followed sport in India, saw great involvement from both players and the audience. Blue house emerged as the winners.
A power-packed game of Shot put for boys & girls and discus throw for boys took place at the college ground on 22/2/2024. The participants exhibited impressive strength throughout the game. A 5000 meters race for boys & girls was also conducted on the same day at the college ground.
Various series of races such as 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500, 3000 meters races, 4*100 meters relay for boys & girls, and 4*400 meters relay for girls & boys, along with discus throw for girls, were conducted on 23/2/2024 from 9 am onwards. All sports programs concluded by 1 pm. Individual champions of Annual Sports 2023-24 are Muhammed Miras, Sruthin P Murali, Deepak M A, and Jeemol George. Prizes for winners were distributed on 14/3/2024 during college day celebrations.
