Mar Elias College, Kottappady, celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21, 2024, with a series of activities aimed at promoting the benefits of yoga. The event was organized by the NSS Unit No. 109 in collaboration with the Staff Association. The program began at 9:30 am in the college seminar hall, which was filled with enthusiastic participants. The primary focus of the celebration was a Yoga Awareness Class, conducted by Sri. Mohanan S., the head of the Physical Education Department at Mar Elias College. The event commenced with a welcome address, highlighting the importance of International Yoga Day and the significance of incorporating yoga into daily routines for overall well-being by Mrs. Jincy P Mathews, Vice Principal. Sri. Mohanan S. led the main session, focusing on the physical and mental benefits of yoga. He provided an insightful introduction to various yoga postures, breathing techniques, and meditation practices. The interactive session allowed participants to engage in practical exercises, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of yoga. The yoga instructor demonstrated several yoga poses and guided participants through a series of exercises designed to improve flexibility, strength, and relaxation. Participants were encouraged to follow along, creating an atmosphere of active participation and learning. The event concluded with closing remarks from the NSS Programme Officer Ms. Vidya V V, expressing gratitude to the participants and the instructor for making the event a success. The importance of continuing yoga practice beyond International Yoga Day was emphasized, encouraging attendees to incorporate yoga into their regular routines.
