International Olympic Day is celebrated on the 23rd of June every year. The day is celebrated by athletes all over the world. They take part in various activities, sports, shows, entertainment, and other workshops. This day is celebrated to inspire people of all ages, castes, genders, etc to participate in Olympic Games. International Olympic Day was started in 1948. Every year on this day, IOC commemorates the beginning of the Modem Olympic Games. This worldwide celebration of the Olympic spirit sees millions embrace the core Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect through the Olympic day theme of # Lets Move. International Olympic Day is founded on three pills according to IOC, which are move, learn and discover. International Olympic Day aims to encourage people of all ages, genders, castes, etc to participate in athletic events all over the world. Several athletic events are performed on this day. Aside from that, there are also exhibitions and workshops that are held on International Olympic Day.
To generate awareness among students about ancient and new period of Olympics, Health Club of Mar Elias College in association with Department of Physical Education conducted a Quiz Competition programme for the students on 23 June 2023 in the Seminar Hall at 2:00pm, as part of International Olympics Day.
Mr. Sirin Xavier NSS Programme Officer was the Quiz Master. 22 students from different streams participated in the competition. The winners of the competition were Ivin Babu & Arunjith PA (First Prize) BA English, Niranjana Prakash & Goutham. (Second Prize)
