Independence Day

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit No. 109 of Mar Elias College, Kottappady, organized a meaningful and patriotic celebration to observe the 78th Independence Day on August 15, 2023. The program was aimed at instilling a sense of national pride and reminding students and faculty members of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters for the country’s independence. The event featured a variety of activities that reflected the spirit of unity and respect for the nation.
The event commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony. The college manager, Mr. Sunil Joseph, was invited to hoist the national flag. All attendees stood in solemn attention as the national flag was unfurled, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The atmosphere was filled with patriotic fervor as the flag fluttered proudly against the morning sky.
The principal addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of Independence Day and the values of freedom, equality, and democracy. The speech emphasized the contributions of freedom fighters and encouraged students to contribute positively to society.
A group of NSS volunteers, along with members of the college choir, performed a medley of patriotic songs. The rendition invoked a deep sense of love for the nation and brought the audience together in a moment of shared pride and emotion.
The Independence Day observance organized by NSS Unit No. 109 of Mar Elias College, Kottappady, was a grand success. The event not only celebrated the essence of freedom but also encouraged students to reflect on their role as responsible citizens. The diverse activities, from the flag hoisting to cultural performances, reinforced the values of patriotism and service. The efforts of the NSS volunteers were commendable, and the day was filled with pride, joy, and a sense of duty towards the nation.
