CRAFT & FLAVORS @ COMMERCE CARNIVAL

The Crafts & Flavours @ Commerce Carnival was a vibrant initiative jointly coordinated by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Mar Elias College. The event aimed to promote creativity, entrepreneurial thinking, and practical business experience among students through hands-on participation in stalls and product sales.

Event Highlights
Students from various departments actively participated by setting up food stalls, craft stalls, and a mehendi corner. They prepared innovative homemade recipes, crafted handmade products, and offered attractive mehendi designs to visitors.
The entire event reflected the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship that IIC and IEDC aim to foster within the campus.
The stalls featured a variety of dishes such as:
    • Tapioca and Fish Curry
    • Pathiri and Chicken Curry
    • Donuts, Ice Creams, and Innovative Snacks
    • Payasam and Other Traditional Items
In addition to the food stalls, students showcased creative craft items for sale, while the mehendi artists provided beautiful and customized designs to students and faculty.

Financial Outcome
As per the final sales statement, the total gross sales across all stalls amounted to ₹20,128, generating a net overall profit of ₹1,185.

Impact
The event successfully integrated entrepreneurial learning with practical experience. Students demonstrated teamwork, innovation, and customer engagement skills. Through this initiative, they learned key aspects of financial planning, pricing, marketing, and profit management.
The program was well supported by faculty members and students from all departments, and the entire event turned out to be a grand success under the guidance of IIC and IEDC coordinators.

Conclusion
The Crafts & Flavours @ Commerce Carnival served as a live platform for students to experience entrepreneurship within the campus. The collaboration between IIC, IEDC, and the Department of Commerce successfully promoted innovation and self-reliance — the core objectives of both councils.
