The Department of Physical Education at Mar Elias College organized an exciting Chess Competition on 31st August 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event was held in Room No. 205 under the supervision and guidance of Mr. Mohanan S., HOD, Department of Physical Education, with Mr. Abin Thomas serving as the Chess Arbiter.
A total of 22 students from various departments registered to participate in the competition, showcasing their strategic skills and sportsmanship. The chess fixtures were meticulously prepared in advance by Mr. Mohanan S. and Ms. Febeena O.S., the Sports Club staff coordinator, ensuring a well-organized event.
After a series of intense matches, the winners were announced:
1st Place: Megha Vinoj (III B.Com Taxation)
2nd Place:Vysagh Gigi (III B.Com Computer Application)
The winners of the chess competition were awarded attractive mementos during the Onam celebrations, adding to the festive spirit of the event.
The competition was a great success, encouraging students to engage in intellectual sports and promoting a spirit of healthy competition within the college. Participation in chess not only enhances students' intelligence and concentration but also sharpens their decision-making abilities.
