An awareness programme on 'Personal Hygiene' for the newly admitted girl students was organized jointly by the Women Empowerment Cell and the Health Club of Mar Elias College at 2 pm on 11th September 2023 in college auditorium.
The main objective of this programme was to sensitize students towards the significance of cleanliness and personal hygiene, and to address their innovative views and findings positively.

The importance of personal hygiene and menstrual hygiene among adolescents and the issues related to menstruation were discussed in detail. The talk threw light on personal healthcare, hygiene and prevention of illness, menstrual problems and overcoming the anemia and menstrual hygiene etc. The speaker also highlighted the urgent need for orienting both adolescent girls and boys about personal hygiene that helps them deal with their own health and wellbeing.
In the interaction session, the students raised various questions pertaining to the modern lifestyle practices and the measures to be taken to prevent diseases and to stay healthy.
This program was coordinated by the Women Empowerment Cell convener Ms. Jili K. Eldhose.
Sixty students participated in the programme and the feedback collected from them testify that the sessions were highly informative and useful.
