The PG Department of Commerce and ICSI Study Centre of Mar Elias College, Kottappady, in collaboration with the Kochi Chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), organized a Teacher Empowering Session on the theme “Role of AI in Transforming Teaching and Learning” on Friday, 12th September 2025. The program was conducted at the Mar Elias College Campus from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by lunch.
The session was part of the Teachers’ Conference initiative of ICSI aimed at empowering educators with updated knowledge and tools relevant to the evolving educational environment. The event commenced with a formal welcome address, followed by introductory remarks highlighting the importance of continuous professional development among teachers.
The session was presided over by Dr. Joseph T. Moolayil, Principal, Mar Elias College, who emphasized the relevance of artificial intelligence in reshaping academic practices and improving learning outcomes. CS Jinu Mathen, Chairperson of the Kochi Chapter of ICSI, extended her best wishes and appreciated the collaborative efforts of the college and ICSI in fostering teacher empowerment.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Anees C. A., faculty member of Velocity Institute, Perumbavoor. His presentation provided valuable insights into how Artificial Intelligence can be effectively incorporated into teaching and learning processes. He discussed the use of AI-driven tools in personalized learning, data analytics in education, and innovative teaching methodologies that enhance student engagement and efficiency.
The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members of various departments. The interactive segment that followed allowed teachers to share their perspectives and clarify doubts regarding the practical implementation of AI in classroom settings. The discussion encouraged participants to explore the potential of AI to create more dynamic and inclusive learning environments.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to ICSI Kochi Chapter for their support, to the resource person for his enriching session, and to all faculty members for their active participation. The Teacher Empowering Session successfully fulfilled its objective of broadening educators’ understanding of emerging technologies and their transformative role in higher education.
