ORIENTATION ON ACCA

The Department of Commerce, Mar Elias College, Kottappady, organized an Orientation Programme on the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) qualification on July 15, 2025 from 2pm onwards, for the benefit of students at Seminar Hall. The session aimed to provide comprehensive awareness about the globally recognized ACCA qualification, its structure, benefits, and the wide range of career opportunities it offers in the field of accounting and finance.

Objectives of the Programme
The major objectives of the programme were to:
    • Familiarize students with the ACCA qualification, its course structure, and exam pattern.
    • Explain the career prospects of ACCA both in India and abroad.
    • Motivate students to pursue professional courses alongside their undergraduate studies.
    • Provide a platform for interaction with experts and clarify students’ doubts about the course.

Resource Person
The session was led by a representative Mr.HAFEZ from ISDC (International Skill Development Corporation) – ACCA India, a reputed ACCA Approved Learning Partner. The resource person provided detailed insights into the ACCA curriculum, eligibility criteria, course duration, examination methodology, and the scope of global employment for ACCA professionals.

Programme Highlights
The orientation commenced at 10:00 AM in the college auditorium.
    • The Head of the Department of Commerce, Ms. Vineetha C. R., delivered the welcome address and briefly introduced the purpose of the session.
    • The resource person from ISDC conducted an informative and engaging session on various aspects of the ACCA program.
    • Students were actively involved throughout the session, showing keen interest and asking relevant questions about the registration process, exemptions, and career opportunities.
    • At the end of the presentation, an interactive Q&A session was held, during which the students cleared their doubts directly with the expert.

Participation
Around 70 students from B.Com and BBA actively participated in the programme. Their enthusiastic response reflected a growing interest in pursuing professional accounting qualifications alongside their academic studies.

Outcome of the Programme
The session successfully:
    • Enhanced students’ awareness about the value and global relevance of ACCA.
    • Motivated students to consider integrated professional qualifications.
    • Created a foundation for the future implementation of the ACCA Programme at Mar Elias College.
The orientation thus proved to be an informative and encouraging experience for all participants.

Conclusion
The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Febeena O. S., ACCA Coordinator, Department of Commerce.In her address, she expressed sincere gratitude to the Principal, Resource person from ISDC, Head of the Department Ms. Vineetha C. R., faculty members, and all the students for their support and participation. She appreciated the efforts of everyone who contributed to making the orientation a grand success and highlighted how the event aligned with the college’s mission to enhance students’ academic and professional growth.
