NEWBIE BASH

The Fresher's Day program at Mar Elias College conducted by Department of Commerce in association with IQAC held on August 19, 2024, with great enthusiasm and warmth as we welcomed the new students to our institution. The event was a perfect blend of formal and informal sections, creating a memorable experience for everyone.

The formal section of the program began with a solemn prayer sung beautifully by Aparna venu and Aswini shaji 2nd mcom setting a serene tone for the event. Following the prayer, the Welcome Speech was delivered by Ben Kuriakose 2nd mcom who expressed the joy and excitement of the college community in welcoming the new batch of students. His words were both encouraging and inspiring making the fresher's feel at home.

The Presidential Address was given by the Principal of Mar Elias College, Dr Joseph T. Moolayil. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of education, discipline, and the role of the college in shaping the future of the students. He also highlighted the rich history and values of Mar Elias College, urging the freshers to take full advantage of the opportunities available to them. The Felicitation section was graced by two prominent figures from the college: Mrs Jincy P. Mathews, the Head of the Commerce Department, and Mrs Jili K Eldhose the Head of the Travel and Tourism Department. Both HODs shared their experiences and insights, motivating the students to strive for excellence in their respective fields. They also expressed their willingness to support the students in every possible way. Speeches were delivered by Febeena o.s (faculty coordinator) and Vineetha C.R who spoke passionately about the transition from under gradute to post graduate and the significance of embracing new challenges and opportunities. The formal section concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Varsha, a junior student, who expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries, faculty members, and fellow senior students for making the event a success. She also thanked the organizing committee for their hard work and dedication in planning .

After the formal section the informal section of the program began with a series of games and fun activities that were designed to help students interact and bond with one another. These activities were lively and engaging,helping to create a friendly and inclusive atmosphere. The highlight of the informal section was a dance performance by the senior students, which was well- received and added a touch of entertainment to the event. Refreshments  were  then provided to all the students and teachers, offering a chance for everyone to relax,socialize, and enjoy the company of their peers and mentors. The function concluded on a high note, leaving the freshers with a sense of belonging and excitement for the journey ahead. Aparna venu 2nd mcom did an excellent job anchoring the programme, ensuring the event ran smoothly and faster.
