Industry Institute Connect

The event titled Industry Institute Connect – Cracking the AI Code: The Science Behind LLMs was organized by the Department of Computer Science and Applications in association with IGNUS, aimed at introducing final-year BSc and BCA students to the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI), with a specific focus on Large Language Models (LLMs). The session was held on February 12, 2025, at the Seminar Hall and saw the participation of 60 enthusiastic students. Mr. Arjun CC, Senior Technical Lead at UST Global, was the resource person for the event. He provided an insightful presentation on the evolution of AI and explained the technicalities behind LLMs, including their architecture, training processes, and real-world applications. He elaborated on how LLMs, through natural language processing and deep learning, are revolutionizing industries like healthcare, finance, and education. Mr. Arjun also discussed the ethical challenges of AI and the importance of high-quality data in training these models.
Following the session, a feedback session was conducted, where students shared their thoughts and reflections on the presentation. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with students expressing their appreciation for the in-depth knowledge and practical insights they gained. Many highlighted how the session helped them understand the real-world applications of AI and sparked their interest in exploring these technologies further.
Additionally, a query-clearing session was held, where students had the opportunity to ask questions and clarify their doubts regarding the topics discussed. Mr. Arjun answered a range of questions related to AI, LLMs, career prospects in AI, and the future of the technology, ensuring that all students left the session with a clearer understanding of the subject.
The event not only helped students understand the underlying science of LLMs but also opened their eyes to the vast potential of AI in shaping the future. It successfully bridged the gap between academia and industry, offering students practical insights into how the technology they study can be applied in real-world scenarios, thus preparing them for the challenges and opportunities in the tech industry.
