The Placement and Career Guidance Cell of Mar Elias College in association with Santamonica Pvt. Ltd., Kochi, conducted a seminar ‘JEEVAN KAUSHAL’ – Life Skill Training Programme on interview skills and resume writing on 19 & 26 September 2023. The programme was arranged in four sessions with a total of 169 students. The first session was started on 19 September 2023, Tuesday at 9.30 a.m. in the seminar hall with the students of the social work department.The resource person was Mr. Shine Antony, Country Head- Corporate Strategy & New Initiatives, Santamonica Pvt. Ltd., Kochi. At 9.30 am, session started with a welcome speech by Ms. Sumi S, Placement Officer. She also introduced the resource persons for the audience .The sessions were interactive and students were participated well in the session. The targeted audience were all UG final year students.
Interview skills are crucial for several reasons. Good interview skills help create a positive first impression, setting the tone for the entire interaction. Strong interview skills enable clear and effective communication of qualifications, experiences, and motivations to potential employers. Practicing and honing interview skills builds confidence, allowing candidates to articulate their strengths and handle challenging questions with poise. Interviews provide an opportunity to showcase how well a candidate fits into the company culture and the specific requirements of the role. Interview skills include mastering non-verbal cues such as body language and eye contact, which play a significant role in conveying professionalism and engagement. Mock interview sessions provide students with valuable practical experience, helping them refine their communication skills, build confidence, and identify areas for improvement. These simulations mimic real-world interviews, preparing students for the challenges they may face in professional settings. Additionally, constructive feedback from mock interviews can enhance their self-awareness and readiness for actual job interviews.

The session was concluded at 3.30pm. The students gave their feedback and also requested to the resource person to conduct a mock interview session for them. Overall it was very beneficial for the students.
